about

June 9th Sasha Adrian releases first single ‘Dog’ about friendship and violence from upcoming EP ‘Token’

First single ‘Dog’ from Sasha Adrian’s debut EP reaches where words won’t suffice; with energetic guitar leads and urgent melodies she expresses unwavering love and understanding for a friend experiencing violence at home.

The new Celebration Records artist, Sasha Adrian’s potent honesty and a daring temper, beautifully manifests itself on the first single ‘Dog’ from her forthcoming debut EP ‘Token’. ‘Dog’ was originally written for a friend experiencing violence at home. In forthright lyrics, influenced by her generation of indie-rock artists, ‘Dog’ unfolds a story of denial and is an expression of love and support, with a promise of being there in whatever capacity there is room for. The song has come to symbolize the very human need to cover up hard truths in order to keep moving, a theme that reappears on Sasha Adrian’s debut EP ‘Token’, which will be released in October 2023.

With energetic guitar leads and urgent melodies, ‘Dog’ embodies both a beautiful friendship and the tragedy of violence in every form. The hope is that the song can be a voice of support for those with experiences seemingly too hard to voice, and serve as a reminder to take a closer look, if our loved ones exhibit behavioral changes.

Sasha Adrian recorded the EP in the fall of 2022 with producer Christoffer Hørbo and her live band and signed with Celebration records in May 2023. The EP will be released on Celebration Records in October 2023.

lyrics

You don’t like it
when I ask about your family
You don’t want me to come over
‘cause you want me to believe
That every night he cooks you dinner
And he asks about your school day
Then he kisses you goodnight
And strokes you gently
On the forehead

The dog scratched your shoulder
You walked into to a door
You bit your lip by accident
But it really doesn’t hurt
Anymore

You say he’s better now
that he is out of prison
Says he really wants to give you
Everything that you’ve been missing
You just came here
‘Cause he wasn’t in the mood
To have you over,
But it’s fine, you understand
That it’s not easy
Getting sober

The dog scratched your shoulder
You walked into a door
You bit your lip by accident,
Like a million times before

The dog scratched your shoulder
The dog locked the door
The dog was just exhausted
That’s why he fell asleep
On the floor
